Services for People with Disabilities

Homebound Readers Service Hours: Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Homebound Readers Service is for those who are confined to their homes by an illness or an injury, either chronic or temporary. Books selected for each individual are mailed out to the readers every other week at no charge to the homebound reader. This service is initiated by a phone call to the Homebound Readers Service at (562) 570-6959.
Assistive Technology Assistive Technology is a device or a computer-based accommodation that provides equitable access to programs and print or online resources for persons with disabilities. Most of the Library's assistive technology is available for use at the Main Library. Reading machines that scan printed materials and read them aloud Braille and Speak device for in-library note-taking and text transcribing Book holders Braille signs CCTVs (closed-circuit televisions) Adaptive computer workstations which include alternative keyboards and mice, hands-free mice (head-pointing device), scanner and printers.
